Event Aerial Coverage by Drone

Aerial video and photography for events: festivals, sporting events, outdoor shows, trade fairs and corporate events — dynamic shots unavailable from the ground.

Some of the most memorable images from large events are aerial: the crowd seen from above, the stage framed by the landscape, the racing car shot from a low-altitude follow. These shots, once reserved for productions with helicopter budgets, are now accessible to event organisers of all scales thanks to professional event drones. Drone coverage adds a cinematic dimension to event archives, communications and live broadcast.

Types of events covered

Outdoor festivals and cultural events

Music festivals, open-air theatrical performances, heritage day events, light festivals — any event taking place in an open-air setting benefits from aerial perspectives. The drone captures the scale of the venue, the density of the crowd and the atmosphere of the site in a single shot impossible to achieve from any ground position.

Sporting events and competitions

Trail running, cycling races, equestrian competitions, water sports events, golf tournaments — sports events in natural settings are ideal for dynamic aerial shots. The drone tracks competitors, reveals the route profile and captures the event in its landscape.

Corporate events and trade fairs

Inaugurations, plant open days, outdoor trade shows, team-building events — aerial coverage of corporate events produces communications material of a quality that distinguishes the organisation and its partners. A spectacular aerial image of a plant inauguration or a full car park on open day communicates scale and success in a single frame.

Wedding and private events

For weddings in exceptional settings — châteaux, vineyards, river banks — drone coverage provides images that ground photography simply cannot produce: the aerial view of the ceremony, the estate in its entirety, the guests' arrival.

What a drone shoot adds that ground photography cannot

  • Scale and context — showing the event in relation to its venue and surroundings
  • Crowd dynamics — the energy of a full crowd, a standing ovation, a mass start
  • Establishing shots — aerial sequences that open or close a film report
  • Perspectives — low-altitude fly-throughs impossible with a helicopter or fixed camera

Regulatory framework — events and crowds

Flying over gatherings of people requires specific authorisations. In France, a dedicated DGAC authorisation (CATS — Specific Category) is required for operations over crowds with people-carrying drones. Our operators hold this certification and handle all the administrative procedures (prefectural authorisation request, DGAC filing) required for each event.

Safety protocols include a pre-flight risk assessment, coordination with event security management, defined exclusion zones and emergency procedures.

Our field approach

We use the DJI Avata 360 for event coverage — a compact, manoeuvrable drone that captures cinematic footage in difficult flying environments: between marquee structures, near sound systems, at low altitude over surfaces. Its small size and low noise signature make it less intrusive for performers and attendees than a large professional drone.

For large outdoor events requiring wide-area coverage, we can combine the Avata 360 with the DJI Matrice 4TD for high-altitude establishing shots.

Deliverables are adapted to your use: raw footage for your video editor, edited highlight reel, or a selection of high-resolution stills for communications and press releases.
